I made the decision to attend UTI during my senior year of high school. I felt like their reputation would help me find employment and that I could gain more credentials.
I wanted to get the most out of my education and I felt like UTI offered that. I had a full-ride scholarship to WyoTech but UTI fit my goals for the training I needed for the career I desired. I had some exposure to working on cars in high school but my overall knowledge was pretty basic, so I had a lot to learn going into UTI. The instructors were very helpful and knowledgeable, and they did a good job at explaining things to someone new to the automotive industry.
They simplified things and helped it all make sense. UTI taught me what I needed to know and going through the Ford FACT program accelerated my knowledge and confidence. After I graduated from UTI, I had the knowledge I needed. I just needed to get comfortable with the dealership process.
I use things I learned at UTI when I’m training other technicians. Going to UTI definitely was a good return on investment.
I wouldn’t be as far along as I am today or be a Senior Master technician if I hadn’t gone to UTI. I’d also probably have gone through a more basic auto program at a community college.
