Universal Technical Institute - U.T.I. wonderful, CHS housing not so much
My son just finished at UTI, Lisle, IL.He had a wonderful experience.
Everything that was promised was delivered. They told us what He put into it was going to be what he got out of it. My son worked really hard for 17 months to get a diesel mechanic degree. He was offered a job in his field with 2 1/2 months left in his schooling.
This is after he worked from 6:30-1:00 at a job and then went to school from 1:50 to 8:15. A full day for him. So big kudos to UTI. What I am not pleased with is CHS.
What a racket. Our son was forced to move half way thru his schooling due to CHS losing their contract with the apartment complex. So we went down and spent hours cleaning the apartment. I personally cleaned the apartment, and I am pretty picky.
We still got charged for "cleaning". I can guarantee they did not have to clean after I got done. Then my son got moved to an apartment in a less desirable place that was a filthy and definitely lower standard than he originally was at. So we refused the place and got moved to a different place that still wasn't as nice as his first place.
But of course the rent was raised. The real kicker was when he graduated and went to move out, but his 3 roommates remained. The place was cleaned as best as possible with 3 roomates who were not moving nor tried to keep things cleaned. So imagine our surprise that we got billed for cleaning services that would be impossible to tackle with people still in the apartment and I can guarantee that they will not go in and clean the place with the other kids in there and most likely they will also be charged for the same cleaning services once again when they graduate.
I would recommend finding a place on your own with another student if at all possible.I would do things a lot differently another time around
