One year out of high school, I was working at a local retail department store. I always liked cars, so after working in retail for a while I realized I should peruse something that I knew I would like.
My mom works at a local BMW dealership and she knew that I was looking at technical schools. She asked the technicians in the shop for their opinions and where they went to school, and they recommended UTI. I was also impressed with all the MSAT options they offered. My skill level was basic when I first started at UTI.
I was familiar with all the tools and had some basic mechanical skills and auto knowledge. The hands-on learning aspect was very important. I was an OK high school student but the hands-on approach is really what attracted me most to UTI. Learning is just more fun that way.
The instructors were very knowledgeable and they brought the topics down to my level. The fact that they are experienced in the field and proud of their careers created a respectable environment. The diesel core program gave me the confidence I needed and prepared me for the International Technician Education Program. My first day on the job was amazing.
I was asked to do something that UTI had trained me to do and I found myself working on the same equipment that I had been trained on. I enjoy my job. My favorite days are when I get to troubleshoot and figure out what the problem is. Every day offers me a slightly different challenge so it keeps me busy.
I believe I would not be here if I had not gone to UTI. They gave me the skill set needed to build a résumé that got me this job.
Reason of review: Good quality.
