I enlisted in the Marines straight out of high school. After seven years in the armed forces with time spent in the Persian Gulf and Mohave Desert, I was medically discharged and diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

I floated around with several dead-end jobs and decided to use my education benefits to pursue a real career. I have always enjoyed working with my hands, and after researching the auto and diesel technician fields, I knew I had found my future. With strong demand and good pay, I knew that I could make a career out of it. As an older student, I wanted to make the best choice for me and my family.

After extensive research, I chose UTI because they offer the best education and opportunities. During my time at UTI, I maintained a 4.0 GPA, was on the Directors List and had high attendance. I also worked as the VA liaison helping other veterans access services and be the best students they could be. The UTI-Dallas/Fort Worth campus provides a great atmosphere and support for veteran students.

I graduated with a certification as both an auto and diesel technician so that I would have multiple opportunities.

At AutoNation Ford, I am currently using my auto certification. With a full benefit package, it is a great fit for me and my family.
