Universal Technical Institute - I feel good about my decision to go to UTI. I would do it all again.
I had a part-time job in high school as a ranch hand and I always liked cars and trucks. When a UTI Admissions Representative came to my high school, I was impressed with the manufacturer relationships UTI had.
It made sense to me, so I asked him for more information. Until I heard about UTI, I was thinking about going to a four-year school for a technical degree of some kind. When I learned about UTI, it changed my direction. It offered a faster way to get into a career without taking more English and other prerequisites.
I had some knowledge when I started at UTI because my uncle had a shop and I was always one of those kids working on something. UTI was a good learning environment and the instructors were very experienced and helpful. Every instructor had a different background and they shared their personal experiences with us. They were also very good at passing along their tricks of the trade that they learned along the way.
All of this made learning fun and boosted my confidence. The Finish First program trained me on the whole truck. I knew cars were full of apps and technology but once I got into the Finish First program, I fully realized just how much technology was in these trucks. Taking the Finish First program gave me the confidence I needed to become a professional technician at Freightliner.
I was offered a job here right away. I’ll be assigned to my own bay soon and that will feel good. My definition of success was more defined by money when I first started at UTI but as I get older, I’m more interested in being happy and liking what I do while earning the money.
I feel good about my decision to go to UTI.I would do it all again.
